New Beauty Test Tube - A Year In Review

There must be something about those pink boxes. Just the thought of the a hot pink box of beauty products coming in the post just makes me.....swoon. It all started for me with Birchbox. Then one day I picked up New Beauty magazine and saw an ad for their Test Tube program. I signed up immediately.

The Premise - Score a subscription to the magazine while at the same time sampling higher-end beauty products. This ships out quarterly and comes to $29.95 + shipping. (Mine totals out at $39.80)

Winter/Spring 2012
The Magazine - The mag is available on newsstands for $9.95. It's touted as "The Worlds Most Unique Beauty Magazine". Inside you will find serious and practical information regarding skincare, beauty and body treatments. This is not marketed to the 20 year old. The magazine is split up into 2 sections. The first being the absolute latest in skincare and makeup technology and the second in plastic surgery. Just a warning to those attempting to read this in a public place that there are some quite vivid before and after photos in the second half. So beware! I once found myself on a plane paging through breast augmentations.

The Tube - This is where it gets fun. The items in your Test Tube are highlighted in the magazine and if you are a subscriber to their site and/or facebook page, they will update you over the course of the months on how best to use the items received. In your tube you will also receive a booklet detailing all the items included.

Important to note - There are 2 versions of this program. A direct from New Beauty version, which is what I subscribe to, and a QVC version which you can order direct from QVC. You will get the same magazine but not the same items as QVC does not have license to sell all the items you get in the direct-subscriber tube.

Before we get to my thoughts on the program, I'll give you a look at what I've received this month and over the past year.

Final Thoughts - I've really enjoyed this program. Out of all the sampling programs out there, this one seems to have the most wrinkle-fighting, glow-inducing skincare. I've found many great items through Test Tube that I can't live without. My favorites are: Moroccanoil Glimmer Shine Spray, gummy vitamins, Kerstin Florian spf50 corrective cream, Moroccanoil Luminous Hairspray, Mally Volumizing Mascara, Lashfood & Lumene Sensitive Touch SOS cream.

I'm pretty set on skincare for the time being. That said, I'm not ready to give up getting treats in the post quite yet and I do love the New Beauty magazine. I will be switching my subscription over to the QVC side for awhile. The QVC tubes seem to get more on the cosmetics side, so that might be a better fit.

The next QVC test tube is on sale starting January 16th.
I'll let you know what I get when it arrives.
Have you tried the Test Tube? What did you think?

I just received my first test tube. I got the exact same one you have and I'm really enjoying all my new samples. I wanted to know more about how long this has been going on and what other goodies have been sent in the past and this brought me to your website. Thanx for the informative post :)
