So You Say You Have Leftovers? The At Home Facial


Now that the holidays are over I'm ready for a wind down. I also have a fridge full of random items that I never usually have on hand, left over from said holidays. Are you ready to hit the reset button? Revive and refresh your tired, dull, stressed out, over-done it skin with one of these (easy) at-home facials.

Clove Honey Mask - for broken out and broken down skin
(cloves contain eugenol, which is a natural antiseptic that balances skin and helps to prevent breakouts)

1 teaspoon ground cloves
1 teaspoon honey
3 drops lemon juice
Mix and apply to clean skin, leave on for 20 mins and rinse with cool water.

Pumpkin Honey Mask - the sensitive skin soother
(pumpkin has a ton of anti-inflammatory and antiseptic compounds, as well as Vitamin A, perfect for soothing and beta-carotene which helps protect collagen)

1/2 cup mashed pumpkin
1 tablespoon honey
Mix until smooth. Apply to clean, slightly damp skin and leave on for 20 mins. Rinse with water and pat dry.

Cranberry Face Scrub - shore up sun damage and reveal radiant skin
(cranberries contain ellagic acid which blocks the acid that breaks down collagen. Studies have shown that applying this topically helps prevent wrinkles caused by the sun)

1/4 cup cornmeal
2 tablespoons crushed fresh cranberries
1 tablespoon buttermilk
2 teaspoons honey
Blend well with a fork. Massage onto face for 2-3 minutes, rinse with lukewarm water.
